Hand in Hand (Main de la Main) with Women in Africa

An Opportunity to Transform Lives and make a difference in the world

Our Vision

Hand-in-Hand with African Women \ Main de la Main is a charitable organization  founded in December 2020, designed to empower African women and girls to continue to expand their leadership and entrepreneurial skills in their communities. Our vision is to create sustainable support to enhance the possibilities for African women to become self-reliant. We share this vision with Bridges of Hope, who believe the noblest act of charity is to ‘give people an opportunity to survive, thrive and in turn, guide others to the same, with dignity and purpose’.

We are committed to:

  • equity, equal access to abundance, particularly, those in greatest need.
  • empower African women and girls to find their voice in their communities
  • raise awareness about social justice, solidarity and reciprocity in the global community.

We are Hope Whisperers committed to transform the lives of many African women and children in the years to come. We invite you to join us in spreading hope, love and compassion to African women.

Your donations have contributed  to the realizations of the following projects between December 2020 to July 2024

  • A hatchery and poultry farm in Western Kenya.
  • Drilling of a bore hole and installation of solar powered equipment to pump water to two storage tank s on Maasai Mara Land in Kenya
  • Income generating farming project:  Purchase of land to plant vegetables and fruit trees to feed children in an orphanage (Togo)
  • Supporting teachers salaries for a school across the border in Ghana from Lome Togo.

N.B. If you wish your donation to support a specific project, kindly indicate it in the message box.

NEWS FLASH

July 2024

Many of our followers know the details of the projects that have been accomplished to date.  Mama Charity is embarking on a huge new project that involves the eventual relocation of the orphange in Lome to land in western Togo.  A bore hole has been drilled on the land so there is a good source of water for the move and an organization has indicated they will supply a solar powered pump and water storage tanks.  Donations are being gathered now for the building of two dormitories and 2 classrooms so an initial group of 50 children can be moved to the Tove location.

Project Education

Each of our projects holds education of children to be one of the highest values.   At Mama Charity’s Ghana School, we have previously shared that it costs 100 euro for a full year of education for a child and we are hoping to inspire donors to donate 10 euro/month.  If we could get 100 people to do that, Mama Charity would be able to pay the teachers’ salaries each month and take off the pressure of robbing Peter to pay Paul, so to speak, each month in order to keep the school going.  In each community there are different factors that limit a child’s ability to attend school and attend to their studies. For Mama Dinah’s community, women are still walking almost up to 3 km to fetch water.  Since we provided funding for the borehole and solar pump, it is now fresh water and yet women carry several liters each week on their backs.

For the Orphans and Vulnerable Children Project in Kenya, they are scraping by when we wish they could flourish in raising chickens and pigs and then mentor some of the older so they can learn how to do this and have income for their schooling and their families.

This thermometer shows how much overall money has been spent towards the three projects. Donors can donate unallocated funds or designate money for a specific project.

Our donations are received globally and most projects list their costs in local currency.  We convert to Canadian and US Dollars. Our thermometer is using Canadian dollars.

Some projects receive monies from private donors as well as from Hand-in-Hand.    And of course some projects have local money within their community to contribute.  Hand-in-Hand collaborates when private donors are available to work together towards the total cost of a project.

Our newsletter which is published monthly always list the current needs.  Right now the new dormitories and classrooms in Togo are high cost items as is the extension of water distribution in Mama Dinah’s village.
